Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Jakarta reminded passengers about the new rules for carrying and using powerbanks during train journeys to ensure collective safety and comfort.
“This is part of the new regulation’s socialization. Passengers found violating the rule will be reminded,” said PT KAI Jakarta spokesperson Ixfan Hendriwintoko on Saturday (25/10/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The new rule limits the maximum powerbank capacity to 100 watt-hours (Wh). Devices must be in good condition, clearly labeled, and free from damage or wear. Passengers are also prohibited from charging powerbanks using train sockets, which are designed only for low-power devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and earphones.
PT KAI Jakarta emphasized that charging powerbanks from train sockets can raise device temperature and pose a fire risk, potentially endangering the journey’s safety.
