Inp.polri.go.id - Purwokerto. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) conducted emergency evacuations and operational rerouting after three carriages of the Bangunkarta train, traveling from Jombang to Pasarsenen, derailed at Bumiayu Station in Brebes on Monday afternoon (6/4/2026).

"Our emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the site at 2.15 pm to clear the tracks and minimize travel disruptions," said M. As’ad Habibuddin, the Public Relations Manager for PT KAI Purwokerto, as cited by antaranews.com.

The derailment, occurring at a critical junction, has temporarily paralyzed both the upstream and downstream tracks, forcing PT KAI to cancel several major services, including the Sawunggalih, Taksaka, and Purwojaya routes. 

To assist stranded passengers, PT KAI Cirebon provided shuttle buses for those heading toward Purwokerto, while 13 southern line trains, including the Bima and Argo Dwipangga, have been rerouted through the northern Semarang line. Investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing as technical crews work through the night to restore rail connectivity.
