inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chief of Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani asked the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force to immediately take concrete actions to overcome the phenomenon of children and teenagers interested in online gambling.

According to her, the online gambling phenomenon on minors will be dangerous for the future of the state if left unchecked.

“The task force formed by the government must immediately take concrete actions to prevent childrens on taking interest in online gambling,” says Puan Maharani on Tuesday (8/6/2024).

She also highlights the importance of inflicting deterrent effects towards online gambling dealers.

“Government must quickly arrange more strict policies to control the online gambling access, including renewing the existing regulations that are more effective in blocking the online gambling content,” asked Puan.

Furthermore, she also asked for the government to provide psychological support for children addicted to online gambling as many of them who are addicted to it are depressed, anxious, and become anti-social.

The education for children about the risk and negative impact of online gambling must also be intensified comprehensively.

Puan also implored parents to be careful and continue to oversee their children when surfing on the internet.
