Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Hendra Rochmawan, stated that the public can resist as a form of self-protection as long as it is done proportionally and not excessively.

"Our first step is to follow the Regional Police Chief's order for firm, measured action. This is not only for the police; it is also permissible for the public, as long as it is carried out firmly and measuredly," he said in Bandung on Tuesday (7/21/2026).

Hendra stated that throughout July 2026, the West Java Regional Police have uncovered 24 cases of mugging and street crime, including 19 cases that previously went viral on social media.

According to him, information uploaded by the public through social media helps the police identify and investigate various crimes occurring in several areas of West Java.

In addition to taking action, the West Java Regional Police have also increased routine patrols, especially at night and early morning, by increasing the number of personnel in the field to prevent mugging and other street crimes.

Hendra emphasized that the police will take firm action against any perpetrators of street crimes who disturb security and disturb the public.
