Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Minister of  Public Works Dody Hanggodo confirmed on Wednesday (19/3/2025) the continuation of the Giant Sea Wall project along the northern coast of Java to mitigate land subsidence and flooding risks in Jakarta.

“We have completed Phase A of the coastal barrier, spanning 12.66 km. In 2020, we extended it by 33.54 km in collaboration with the Jakarta administration,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The government, working with the Netherlands and South Korea since 2016, is assessing the feasibility and funding for Phase B, which could align with either the 2020 Integrated Flood Safety Plan or the 2016 Masterplan.

Additional sea barriers are under construction in Central Java, integrated with the Semarang-Demak and Semarang Harbour toll roads.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said a systematic, multi-stakeholder approach, ensuring effective flood prevention from upstream to downstream.
