Inp.polri.go.id - East Flores. The Center of Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) issued advice on the eruption threat of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), maintaining Level IV or Alert. "Yes, the ongoing threat includes surface lava deposits and occurrences of avalanches or pyroclastic flows," said Kushendratno, Head of the Emergency Response Team for the Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki Eruption, on Sunday (28/01/2024). He said that current volcanic activities encompass eruptions, avalanches, pyroclastic flow clouds, venting earthquakes, and hybrid earthquakes. In addition, volcanic earthquakes persist, indicating a continuous magma supply to the surface. PVMBG recommended locals to refrain from activities within a five-kilometer radius from the eruption center and a six-kilometer sector to the northeast. Residents should also remain vigilant for rain-induced volcanic mudflow in rivers originating from the mountain's peak during heavy rainfall. "We await next week's evaluations to assess changes in the mountain's status as the potential danger persists at the current Alert level," he said. (ar/pt/pr/nm)
