Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Corruption Court delved into the case of Rafael Alun Trisambodo, the key figure in a prominent corruption and money laundering trial, where the prosecution demanded for a 14-year prison term. "We insist on a 14-year prison sentence for the defendant, Rafael Alun Trisambodo, along with a Rp 1 billion fine or, alternatively, an additional six months of imprisonment," asserted Wawan Yunarwanto, the lead prosecutor, during Monday's hearing (11/12/2023). The indictment from the prosecution outlined that the former official from the Directorate General of Taxation at the Ministry of Finance stands accused of committing corruption offenses under Law No. 31/1999 on the Eradication of Corruption and the Criminal Code. In an assertive statement, the prosecutor added, "Rafael Alun Trisambodo has been unequivocally proven legally culpable for the crime of money laundering." The prosecution team further pressed for a fine of Rp 18,994,806,137 against Rafael.  In the event that the defendant neglects to fulfill the payment within one month of the final verdict, the prosecution retains the authority to seize and auction his assets. Rafael, supported by his legal team, is anticipated to present his defense in court on Wednesday(27/12/2023). This development comes on the heels of earlier allegations by KPK prosecutors, asserting that Rafael had accepted gratifications amounting to Rp 16.6 billion. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
