Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta administration is intensifying its call for mask usage and encouraging vulnerable groups to participate in COVID-19 vaccination to mitigate the virus's spread. "Wearing masks and getting vaccinated, especially for vulnerable groups, are crucial preventive measures. At present, we believe implementing activity restrictions is unnecessary," affirmed Ngabila Salama, Head of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Immunization Section at the Jakarta Health Department on Monday (11/12/23). The Jakarta Provincial Government is urging vulnerable groups, particularly individuals aged 50 and above with incomplete vaccinations and underlying health conditions, to prioritize completing their COVID-19 vaccinations. "Individuals aged 50 and above, with incomplete vaccinations and underlying conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, stroke, heart disease, chronic kidney failure, cancer, tuberculosis, HIV, and other immune disorders, should ensure they complete their vaccination," she said. In addition to this, the Jakarta Provincial Government extends complimentary routine vaccinations for children, covering 15 different types, alongside administering COVID-19 vaccination doses 1-4. Ngabila highlights that vaccination services in Jakarta, including district health centers, operate during standard working hours. Other venues include Tarakan Hospital in Central Jakarta (Mon-Sat, 08:00 AM - 12:00 PM), the PPKP Clinic at Jakarta City Hall (Mon-Fri, 01:00 PM - 04:00 PM), and the Tanjung Priok Port Health Office Clinic (Mon-Fri, 08:00 AM - 03:00 PM). Jakarta Health Department reported 271 confirmed COVID-19 cases from December 4 to December 10, 2023, marking an increase from the previous week's 80 cases between November 27 and December 3, 2023. There's a recurring pattern of an increase every six months or during transitional seasons. This suggests a correlation with seasonal changes, potentially causing reduced immunity in individuals," she said. (ar/inp/pr/nm)
