inp.polri.go.id - Ilaga. The Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force confirmed that the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) burned a number of facilities in Omukia District, Puncak Regency, including two houses belonging to Puncak Regent Elvis Tabuni that had not been occupied for a long time, as well as the Omukia District Office, on Sunday, (7/6/2025).
Head of Damai Cartenz Operation, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, explained that the KKB's claim regarding the use of the Regent's house and District Office as a military post was untrue and was part of propaganda that was deliberately spread to influence public opinion.
"The KKB group is trying to frame us as if the government is using civilian facilities for military purposes. This narrative is used by the KKB to justify their violent actions and influence and incite residents, while this is not true," said Faizal in his official statement on Sunday (7/6/2025).
Head of Public Relations Task Force for Damai Cartenz Operations, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, added that Sebby Sambom, who claims to be the TPNPB OPM spokesperson, has spread a statement accusing the placement of military troops at the Puncak Regent's house and the Omukia District Office.
The narrative of burning which is claimed as resistance against the "militarization" of civilian facilities is often said to be a strategy of the KKB to attract international sympathy and build support from the local community.
"It has become a habit of the KKB to always say that the victims of their brutality are Indonesian military spies, while in fact what they did was kill innocent civilians," concluded Yusuf Sutejo.
The Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force emphasized that security officers in the Puncak Regency area are only tasked with maintaining public security and not using civilian facilities for military operations.
