inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian emphasized that the inherent integrity of each regional head and deputy regional head is a key instrument in preventing corruption within local governments.
The Minister expressed concern over the number of regional heads who have had to deal with law enforcement officials due to alleged corruption and urged these cases to serve as a warning to regional heads and officials to avoid all corrupt behavior.
"We strongly emphasize that fellow regional heads learn from past experiences. These cases, which have been prosecuted or prosecuted by law enforcement, serve as a real warning to strengthen our individual integrity," Tito said in a press conference with Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Setyo Budiyanto in the Main Meeting Room of the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Jakarta, Friday (7/25/2026).
The Ministry of Home Affairs also reiterated its commitment to strengthening the prevention of corruption within local government.
Tito stated that this step is in line with Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government, which regulates the Ministry's duties and functions in providing guidance and supervision to regional governments.
"The steps we have taken, starting with the initial retreat after the inauguration of our fellow regional heads and deputy regional heads, also included training on corruption prevention, integrity, and national insight," he said.
To optimize prevention efforts, the Ministry of Home Affairs is collaborating with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) through the Monitoring Center for Prevention (MCP).
The Ministry of Home Affairs is also undertaking various other efforts, such as optimizing the Regional Government Information System (SIPD), strengthening the values of ASN Berakhlak (Integrated Civil Servants), and regularly monitoring regional heads to ensure they avoid corruption.
The Minister of Home Affairs expressed concern over the corruption cases involving a number of regional heads. Therefore, the Ministry of Home Affairs, together with the KPK, is determined to strengthen prevention measures by visiting several locations in the regions.
