Religious Harmony as Pillars for the Continued National Development
inp.polri.go.id - Medan. The Vice Minister of Religious Affairs, Raden Muhammad Syafi'i, stated that civil servants (ASN) and government employees with work contracts (PPPK) within the Ministry of Religious Affairs are the pillars of religious harmony.
"The pillars of religious harmony are on the front lines as representatives of the government, maintaining and overseeing harmony between religious communities in society," he explained, as reported by antaranews, Friday (1/16/2026).
While providing guidance and coaching to civil servants at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office in Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra, Syafi’i stated that every mandate given by the state must be carried out responsibly and in service to the community.
He emphasized the importance of never leaving a negative impression about the image of Ministry of Religious Affairs personnel in the community.
"The duty of Ministry of Religious Affairs personnel is to maintain harmony among religious communities. Therefore, religious messages must always be conveyed to religious communities," he explained.
He further stated that Indonesia's multicultural and diverse nation requires fostering interfaith harmony, so that existing differences do not become potential conflicts within society.
According to him, the plurality of the Indonesian nation is a gift from God, as this diversity is the foundation for the nation's continued development.
He noted that, meanwhile, in other parts of the country, conflicts always arise due to differences in religion, ethnicity, and culture.
"Therefore, the contribution of the Ministry of Religious Affairs is crucial and strategic in fostering a spirit of harmony within society," he emphasized.
