Riau Islands Water and Air Police Prevented Six Illegal Migrant Workers from Going Abroad

inp.polri.go.id – The Directorate of Water and Air Police of the Riau Islands Police has rescued six prospective Indonesian migrant workers from Lombok, who were about to be sent to Malaysia illegally. "There were six people who were rescued near Putri Island, Batam, near the Singapore border," explained AKBP Sudarsono as the Head of Sub-Directorate of Water and Air Police Law Enforcement Unit of Riau Island. During the rescue, the police also arrested two people suspected of sending the six people abroad illegally, they are Martonis and Arminda. "Martonis is the one who brought the six people to Malaysia using a small speed boat. And his arrest occured on Putri Nongsa Island, last October 31," said the Director of the Riau Islands Water and Air Police, Kombes Boy Herlambang M.Sc., Wednesday (2/11/22). Based on the suspect's confession, they get a different amount of profit. Martonis who drives the boat gets a salary of Rp100,000 per person sent. Meanwhile, Arminda which acts as the host gets a profit of Rp200,000 per person. Currently, both of them have been taken to the Riau Islands Water and Air Police Directorate HQ in Sekupang.
