inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Riau Island Regional Police destroys meth and ecstasy evidence by the Drug Criminal Investigation Directorate. The seized illicit items were part of a collaboration effort with Batam Customs during the period March 2025.

Riau Island Regional Police Vice Chief, Brigadier General Anom Wibowo says that the evidence was destroyed as part of police efforts in eradicating drugs in March 2025.

The terminated drugs were seized from a total of 10 police reports with 15 suspects arrested.

In the activity, Anom appreciates all personnel of Riau Island Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation Directorate who successfully uncovered the case.

“Today, we exterminate the meth and ecstasy that has been determined as the Drug Evidence by the Batam District Attorney's Office, which is the result of the disclosure of 10 drug cases during March 2025 with 15 suspects," said Anom on Wednesday (4/16/2025).

The details of the evidence destroyed were 96.2 kilograms or 96,253.30 grams of crystal/solid methamphetamine from a total confiscation of 96.4 kg or 96,406.28 grams and 3,970 ecstasy pills from a total of 4,043 pills. A small portion of the evidence was set aside for legal evidence and laboratory testing.

The Deputy Chief of Police of the Riau Islands further explained that assuming 1 gram of methamphetamine can reach 5 users, the destruction of 96,253.30 grams of methamphetamine has the potential to save 481,265 lives. This is assuming 1 ecstasy pill is used by 2 people, the destruction of 3,970 ecstasy pills has saved 7,940 people from drug abuse.
