Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The Food Task Force of the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the East Java Regional Police has announced that rice availability in the region is sufficient ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr this year.
"We have not found any shortage of essential commodities, and the rice stock is quite abundant," said East Java Police Public Relations Unit Head, Senior Superintendent Dirmanto, during an inspection of markets alongside the Surabaya City Industry and Trade Office, and the Surabaya Branch of the National Logistics Agency (Bulog) on Tuesday (27/2/2024).
He explained that this activity was carried out to follow up on information regarding shortages and price increases of essential goods in East Java, antaranews.com reported.
The East Java Police Food Task Force targeted several markets, distributors, and Bulog warehouses.
Chief Dirmanto urged the public not to worry about rice stocks, especially in Surabaya and East Java in general, ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
"According to information from Bulog Surabaya, there are 130 thousand tons of rice in stock, with 30 thousand tons specifically in the Surabaya Branch Bulog warehouse," he said.
The Surabaya Branch Manager of Bulog, Sugeng Hardono, confirmed that there are 130 thousand tons of rice in stock in East Java. He advised the public not to join long queues just to buy rice.
