The Chief of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi, has announced that traffic arrangements for the international speedboat championship, F1Powerboat, have been streamlined to facilitate accessibility. "We aim to ensure that the Balige area, where the event is held, is as comfortable as possible," he said on Tuesday (27/2/2024). Chief Agung explained that traffic management is designed with green and yellow zones to ease public access to the event location, antaranews.com reported. "We've minimized road closures to ensure the public can enjoy the event," he added. The North Sumatra Police are conducting a regional police operation for F1Powerboat security in Balige, North Sumatra, for eight days from 27 February to 5 March 2024. The international F1Powerboat event involves 1,170 personnel, including those from Bukit Barisan Military Command, the North Sumatra Regional Police, traffic departments at the provincial and district levels, and others. The championship will take place on 2-3 March 2024. The distance from Medan to the location is approximately seven hours via the western route of Sumatra, covering 234 kilometers. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
