Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian weightlifter Rizki Juniansyah clinched the gold medal in the men’s 73 kg category at the Paris 2024 Olympics, held at South Paris Arena 6 on Thursday (8/8/2024).
The 21-year-old lifter totaled a weight of 354 kg, comprising a 155 kg snatch and a 199 kg clean and jerk. Rizki completed the snatch on his second attempt after failing on his first. He attempted a 162 kg snatch on his third try but was unsuccessful, according to antaranews.com.
In the snatch category, Rizki, alongside Colombia's Mosquera Luis with a 155 kg lift, placed second, behind China’s Shi Zhiyong who lifted 165 kg. Shi attempted to break the Olympic snatch record with 168 kg but failed.
Rizki surged ahead in the clean and jerk, lifting 191 kg on his first attempt and 199 kg on his second, setting a new Olympic record. Shi Zhiyong failed on all three attempts in the clean and jerk.
Rizki’s gold medal brought Indonesia’s total to two golds—following Veddriq Leonardo’s climbing gold—and one bronze, earned by shuttler Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
