Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that an Indonesian citizen was the victim in the stabbing incident in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

"Yes, an Indonesian citizen identified as RA was murdered, with the suspect being another Indonesian citizen, identified as LFP," said Judha Nugraha, the Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection at the Ministry, in a statement on Thursday (8/8/2024).

The incident occurred on 4 August 2024, in Philadelphia. The victim was stabbed in the neck and leg with a kitchen knife.

Judha noted that the Indonesian Consulate General in New York worked with Philadelphia police for the victim’s autopsy and legal proceedings against the suspect. The consulate has also been in touch with the victim’s family.

"The Ministry and the Consulate General will continue to monitor the case and provide consular assistance," Judha added.

Local media have reported that a 55-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in South Philadelphia on Sunday. Police have detained one person for questioning regarding the incident.
