SAM Air Confirms Crashed Plane Was Airworthy

Inp.polri.go.id - Pohuwato. SAM Air confirmed on Monday (21/10/24). that the aircraft with registration number PK-SMH, which crashed near Panua Airport in Pohuwato, Gorontalo, was deemed airworthy prior to the incident.

"The plane was fit to fly, and we are now awaiting the investigation results from the National Transportation Safety Committee," said Captain Kasta Gunawam from SAM Air, as reported by antaranews.com.

The aircraft was regularly used for routes within Gorontalo, where the airline operates two planes for passenger service.

"The second plane is currently undergoing engine installation due to expired flight hours," he added.

Regarding the investigation into the crash, Captain Kasta refrained from commenting until KNKT completed its examination.

In terms of compensation for the victims' families, he confirmed that the claims process is being managed by the team from Jakarta. 

"All arrangements for compensation for passengers and crew will be handled by management," he said.
