Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. A Saudi Airlines Boeing 777-300ER carrying 442 Hajj pilgrims made an emergency landing at Kualanamu Airport, North Sumatra, on Tuesday (17/6/2025) following a bomb threat.
The flight, en route from Jeddah to Jakarta, was diverted after Indonesian authorities received an anonymous email warning of an explosive device onboard.
"This action was taken after we received a report from PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia regarding a bomb threat sent by an unidentified individual via email at 7.30 a.m.," said Lukman F. Laisa, the Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The plane landed safely at 10.44 am. local time. All passengers were evacuated by 11.50 a.m., and the aircraft was moved to an isolated parking area. A bomb squad is conducting a full inspection.
Authorities activated the Emergency Operations Center and coordinated with airport and aviation security teams in accordance with national aviation emergency protocols. No casualties were reported.
