Security Forces Pursue KKB Responsible for Wings Air Shooting

Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Chief of the Papua Regional Police, Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri, said that the joint team of the Indonesian Military and the Indonesian National Police (INP) have been hunting down the armed criminal group (KKB) responsible for shooting at a descending Wings Air plane at Nop Goliath Dekai Airport in Yahukimo, Papua Mountains on Saturday (17/2/2024).
The shooting incident resulted in bullets penetrating the aircraft's fuselage, antaranews.com reported. "There were no fatalities in the shooting incident,"  he said. The incident began with the sound of gunfire, which struck the left side of the Wings Air plane as it was preparing to land. The plane, carrying 36 passengers, reportedly returned to Timika following the incident. One passenger, named First Private Ongen, seated in seat 19A, was reportedly struck by shrapnel from the gunfire, resulting in minor injuries to his neck. Regarding the identity of the armed criminal group (KKB) responsible for the shooting, the Papua Police Chief admitted that they have not yet been able to determine it. "Our members are still conducting investigations to uncover the perpetrators," Chief Fakhiri said. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
