inp.polri.go.id - Donggala. The Central Sulawesi Regional Police's Water and Air Unit Directorate has bolstered surveillance of cargo ships passing through the waters of Palu Bay and Donggala Bay. This measure is being taken to maintain shipping lane security and ensure the safe distribution of logistics between islands.
"This surveillance is intended to anticipate potential maritime crimes, particularly in the strategic shipping lane connecting East Kalimantan and Central Sulawesi," said the Director of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police's Water and Air Unit, Senior Superintendent Suprianto, in Wani, Donggala Regency, on Thursday (9/24/2026).
During the inspection, personnel conducted sweeps along several waterways and conducted random inspections of merchant vessels and cargo vessels heading to ports in the Donggala region.
One of the vessels inspected was the 38 Gross Tonnage (GT) Anisa 55, captained by Roman and two crew members.
"This thorough inspection was carried out by personnel on the Patrol Vessel KP XIX-2009, by checking the validity of sailing documents, completing administrative documents, and physically inspecting the vessel to ensure no illegal goods were smuggled in," he said.
From the inspection results, officers confirmed that the Anisa 55 had complete shipping documents and complied with regulations. Police also found no prohibited cargo on board.
"We routinely conduct and intensify routine patrols in maritime border areas to ensure the reliability of the supply chain, provide a sense of security for maritime transport operators, and prevent the entry of illegal commodities that could potentially harm the regional economy," he said.
Suprianto also encouraged the public and maritime transportation users to participate in maintaining shipping security by reporting any suspicious activity they encountered during their voyages.
"This patrol activity is part of the police's preventative efforts to maintain security, order, and safety in shipping activities in the waters of Central Sulawesi," he said.
The Anisa 55 was known to be transporting logistics from Samarinda, East Kalimantan, to Wani Port, Donggala Regency.
