Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Yogyakarta Regional Police urged the public to remain vigilant against the hazards of unattended trash burning following an incident that caused a large banyan tree to collapse on Wednesday (14/10/2026).

The fallen tree blocked traffic along Jalan Faridan M. Noto street in the Kotabaru area, Gondokusuman, Yogyakarta. Responding to public reports, Gondokusuman Police Office officers immediately secured the scene and coordinated with relevant agencies for evacuation operations.

Handling at the location was led by Duty Officer Assistant First Inspector Joko M., alongside officers from the Sabhara, Criminal Investigation, and Intelligence units.

Officers secured the area, gathered witness statements, assessed material damages, and collaborated with the Fire Department and Environmental Service to clear the road.
