Semarang Sub-regional Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Irwan Anwar reminds his personnel and ranks to not liked any posts of elections participants, either in the Presidential Elections, Regional Elections, or Legislative Elections. He also emphasized the partners of each police members to maintain the neutrality of the institution. “The higher ups have clearly order us to be neutral, both in actions and words,” emphasized Irwan on Monday (9/18/2023). He stressed that this neutrality also applies in social media, such as not giving like to posts of any elections participants. “In social media, there should be no comment, let alone like, from police member. We have to maintain our neutrality,” he said. “This also applies in field. All police member should not ask for a photo with legislative or presidential candidates,” Irwan adds. He also emphasized the spouses or partners of a police member to also maintain police neutrality although they still have the right to choose. Furthermore, Irwan prohibits the sign language that corelates or signify their support to one of the candidates.
