Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) has announced that seven athletes across five sports have secured qualification to represent Indonesia in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
"Currently, Indonesia has successfully qualified seven athletes from five different sports for the Paris Olympics, and there's still potential for more athletes to qualify as some sports are still in the midst of the qualification process," said KOI Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari during the KOI 2024 Extraordinary Congress on Friday (8/3/3034).
The seven athletes who have already secured their spots in the world's premier sporting event are Arif Dwi Pangestu and the duo Diananda Choirunisa/Riau Egha Agatha Salsabila in archery, Rifda Irfanaluthfi in artistic gymnastics, Desak Maderita Kusuma Dewi and Rahmat Adi Mulyono in sport climbing, Fathur Gustafian in shooting, and Rio Waida in surfing.
Raja noted that other sports are in the process of qualifying athletes for the Paris Olympics through various tournaments included in the Olympic qualification.
"We have sports such as cycling, judo, badminton, and others still undergoing qualification," he said.
Acknowledging the challenging journey to qualify athletes for the Olympics, Raja stressed the importance of support from all sectors to ensure the athletes achieve their best performance.
Furthermore, Raja urged attendees to increase public awareness and appreciation for the athletes who qualify and represent Indonesia on the global stage.
"With dozens set to represent Indonesia at the pinnacle of global sports, the Paris Olympics, let's rally behind them with our utmost support," he said.
The event was attended by Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa, several officials representing the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, the Minister of Youth and Sports, as well as chairpersons or representatives from various sports branches.
