Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A shallow earthquake struck Tanggamus, Lampung, on Friday night (26/9/2025), the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) confirmed.
The quake, with a magnitude of 4.5 and depth of 5 kilometers, hit at 9.55 pm local time.
“The epicenter was located 19 kilometers northwest of Tanggamus, at coordinates 5.47°S and 104.51°E,” BMKG reported on its official site, as quoted by antaranews.com
Tremors were felt in Kota Agung and Limau at intensity level II–III on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale, described as vibrations noticeable indoors like the passing of a truck. Stronger shocks at level III–IV MMI were reported in Semaka, where doors and windows rattled.
Authorities said there have been no reports of casualties or damage. Residents were advised to remain alert for possible aftershocks. Indonesia sits atop major tectonic boundaries, making it highly prone to seismic activity.
