Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura.  La Ode Rusli (55), a shooting victim in Puncak Regency, Papua Tengah, was evacuated to Timika on Tuesday (3/12/2024) for medical treatment.

Puncak Sub-regional Police Chief Senior Inspector I Nyoman Punia confirmed that Rusli sustained a gunshot wound to his left shoulder, which exited through the front. He was initially treated at Ilaga Regional Hospital before being flown to Timika aboard a Reven aircraft.

The incident occurred Monday night around 7 pm local time in Kago market, Ilagan District. Rusli was heading to a mosque when he spotted three suspects. Shortly after, gunfire erupted near a workshop, and he realized he had been shot.

Security forces promptly evacuated Rusli to Ilaga Hospital for first aid before transferring him to Timika Regional Hospital for further treatment, according to antaranews.com;

Authorities continue to investigate the attack, believed to be linked to an armed criminal group (KKB), which has been active in the region.
