Judha Nugraha, the Director of the Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Tuesday (19/3/2024) that the Consulate General of Indonesia in Hong Kong has requested consular access to meet with the detainees. Access will be granted once the investigation concludes and if consent is given by the detainees, according to the Hong Kong Police. Four of the detainees are held at a Hong Kong Police correctional facility, while the remaining two have been released on bail. Those who have provided consent will receive consular assistance, Judha said, as reported by antaranews.com. The arrests were made on February 18, 2024, following the robbery of 25 watches valued at six million Hong Kong dollars by the six Indonesians. The group comprises three women and three men aged between 26 and 35 years old. The Hong Kong Police revealed that four of the detainees had overstayed their permits, while one admitted to involvement in torture.
