Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang.  The Department of Agriculture and Plantation in Central Java has issued a warning that extensive rice fields across several districts faced possible crop failure due to recent flooding. Supriyanto, the Head of the Department, said that the flooded agricultural areas span Grobogan, Demak, Kudus, Jepara, and Pati Regencies. As of 15 March 2024, data reveals that 4,381 hectares of rice fields in Grobogan Regency have been affected by floods, with rice plants ranging from 5 to 100 days after planting (DAP). "In Grobogan, floods have also impacted 152 hectares of cornfields and 84 hectares of red onion crops," he said, as reported by antaranews.com.. Meanwhile, Demak has seen at least 162 hectares of flooded rice fields, with rice plants aged between 10 and 90 DAP, along with 765.76 hectares of red onion fields affected by floods. In Kudus Regency, flooding has impacted 2,776 hectares of rice fields, with plants aged between 10 and 90 DAP, as well as other crops like melons and chili peppers. "We've observed 63 hectares of melon fields and four hectares of chili pepper fields affected by floods in Kudus," Supriyanto added. Moving on to Jepara, approximately 1,989 hectares of rice fields with plants aged between 30 and 80 DAP have been flooded. However, the most severe impact has been felt in Pati, where 6,961.4 hectares of rice fields have been flooded, with plants aged between 10 and 80 DAP. "In Pati, there are also 153.1 hectares of flooded cornfields," Supriyanto highlighted. These figures are subject to change as the floods persist, making it challenging to assess the full extent of damage to the land. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
