inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni said that social forestry has an important and strategic role in realizing national food self-sufficiency.

"Social forestry supports food self-sufficiency, (one of which) by optimizing social forestry areas through agroforestry," said Minister Raja Juli on Thursday (9/10/2025).

Furthermore, he said that the potential of social forestry land is a form of support from the forestry sector for efforts to realize national food self-sufficiency as a national strength.

This is also in line with what was instructed by President Prabowo Subianto regarding Indonesia's food self-sufficiency and security.

"Of the total 8.3 million hectares of Social Forestry Decrees that have been issued, there is potential for food development through agroforestry," said the Minister of Forestry.

He considered the social forestry program to be a bridge between environmental conservation and people's economic development.

"Through an agroforestry approach and the utilization of social forestry areas, communities not only gain economic benefits from food crops such as corn, but also maintain the sustainability of the forests that support life," explained the Minister of Forestry.
