Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The South Aceh Sub-regional Police deployed a water cannon on Saturday (10/1/2026) to clean flood-related dust from major roads, aiming to prevent respiratory illnesses and restore safe public mobility after recent flooding.
“This operation is intended to remove hazardous dust so residents can resume daily activities in a healthier environment,” said South Aceh Deputy Chief Senior Inspector Edwin Aldro, as reported by antaranews.com
The cleaning operation took place in flood-affected areas of Aceh Selatan Regency, where thick mud left by receding waters had dried into airborne dust.
Chief Edwin said that the dust posed a risk of acute respiratory infections, particularly along busy roads. High-pressure water spraying was used to remove stubborn dried mud and significantly reduce dust levels in the air.
The police focused on main and protocol roads as part of a rapid post-disaster response coordinated with health officers. In addition to road cleaning, officers urged residents to wear masks when traveling through affected zones and to maintain their health during the recovery period.
