Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian has requested additional Indonesian Military (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (INP)personnel to accelerate the cleanup of flood mud across several disaster-hit areas in Aceh ahead of the fasting month of Ramadan.
“The priority is to speed up mud clearance in roads, alleys, homes, and commercial areas, because this is physically demanding work that cannot be delayed,” he said during a coordination meeting, as reported by antaranews.com.
The request was delivered while Minister Tito, also head of the Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation Task Force, met regional leaders and security officials on Saturday (10/1/2026).
He urged earlier deployment of backup troops (BKO) from both institutions and the mobilization of cadets from state academies to reinforce existing forces. According to him, current manpower remains insufficient to handle the scale of mud accumulation on land and river areas.
Minister Tito also confirmed he had asked the TNI & INP chief to increase personnel from 1,000 to at least 5,000 officers, and the Army to deploy up to 10,000 troops, following the end of year-end security duties.
