Inp.polri.go.id -  Jakarta. The South Jakarta District Court has ruled that the suspect status for former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, known as Eddy Hiariej, by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was invalid.
In a hearing on Tuesday (31/1/2024), Judge Estiono declared that the suspect status by KPK imposed against the petitioner former deputy minister Eddy was invalid and has no legally binding force, antaranews.com reported. Therefore his status as a suspect in the case of alleged bribery related to administrative processes without following procedures at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights has been deemed legally ineffective. "The respondent's exception is declared unacceptable," Judge Estiono said, referring to KPK. Former deputy minister Eddy had filed a pretrial lawsuit with the South Jakarta District Court, after withdrawing the lawsuit on 20 December 2023. KPK declared him one of the suspects in a case related to alleged bribery for the processing of administrative matters at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Other suspects in the case include lawyer Yosi Andika Mulyadi  and former deputy minister Eddy H's personal assistant, Yogi Arie Rukmana,   Citra Lampia Mandiri and Helmut Hermawan . (mg/inp/pr/nm)
