Inp.polri.go.id - Pontianak. South Kalimantan’s women’s volleyball team earned their first victory in the 2024 the Indonesian National Police Chief (Kapolri) Cup, defeating Bali 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-23) in the quarterfinals at GOR Terpadu A. Yani Stadium in Pontianak, on Friday.

Under coach Wem Suparman, the team controlled the first two sets but faced a strong challenge in the third, trailing 16-12 and later 22-20. However, they rallied to win the set and the match.

“We expected this win because we had thoroughly analyzed Bali’s gameplay,” he said in a statement on Saturday (5/10/2024), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Suparman admitted the team’s performance in their first quarterfinal match was not yet at its peak.

“We were able to capitalize on our stronger lineup, which is a level above Bali’s,” he added.

Earlier that day, Central Sulawesi’s women’s team defeated West Sulawesi 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-15). Coach Erick Aditama remarked that his team’s performance was below expectations due to nerves and the illness of key player Hanny Budiarti.
