Inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. In an effort to combat the drug abuse in the region, the South Sumatra Regional Police have disposed of 3.4 kilograms of methamphetamine and 4,295 ecstasy pills confiscated from an inter-provincial drug trafficking network.
According to Superintendent Haris Sandi, the Vice Director of the Narcotics Investigation Division of South Sumatra Regional Police, these narcotics were seized from a total of 13 suspects, including drug dealers, couriers, and inter-provincial traffickers arrested over the past several months.
The drug disposal served as a demonstration of transparency to the public, in compliance with Law Number 35 of 2009 regarding Narcotics. It adheres to Article 91 and Article 45, paragraph (4) of the Criminal Procedure Code, which mandates the disposal of illicit or prohibited confiscated items.
Prior to the disposal, the drugs underwent an examination at the Forensic Laboratory Branch of the South Sumatra Regional Police to determine the presence of amphetamines and methamphetamines.
