Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A joint operation by the Indonesian Military and the Indonesian National Police (INP) has put an end to a car and motorcycle theft syndicate operating from a military warehouse in Sidoarjo, East Java.
"Based on our initial investigations, we estimate the annual profit of the suspects to be in the range of Rp 3-4 billion," said Senior Superintendent Wira Satya Triputra, Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police Criminal Investigation Chief, on Monday (15/1/2024).
Investigations revealed that the stolen vehicles were being sold in Timor Leste. The suspects admitted to selling cars for Rp 100-200 million each and motorcycles for Rp 10-20 million each.
"These activities have been ongoing since February 2022 until 2024," stated
The suspects, Eko Irianto (EI) and Maryanto (M), civilians, accumulated profits amounting to Rp 4 billion annually. Meanwhile, three suspects from the Indonesian Military received approximately Rp 30 million per month for providing temporary hideouts for the stolen vehicles in the military warehouse.
