Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP), has responded to artist Sujiwo Tejo's criticism of the blue emergency lights on police vehicles that obstruct the view of other road users. The general issued a telegram instructing the INP's Traffic Directorate to take the necessary measures, including covering the rear of the emergency lights on police vehicles with a 20 per cent tinted film, antaranews.com reported. "This instruction is addressed to all members of the INP regarding all official vehicles," said the Head of the Public Information Office of the INP Public Relations Division, Brigadier General  Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko on Monday (15/1/2024). Signed by INP Chief of the Traffic Corps Inspector General  Aan Suhanan, the telegram was issued a day after Sujiwo expressed his criticism during the 2023 Year-End Release (RAT) event at the INP headquarters on 27 December 2023. The telegram stated that these instructions were based on the analysis and evaluation of safety, order and smooth traffic flow conducted by the  INP Traffic Corps. According to the telegram, the use of emergency lights of emergency lights is recommended during patrol duties and road accident prevention but not for escort duties. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
