inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Sugiono is pushing for accelerated post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, even though recovery progress in those regions has reached 98 percent.

Sugiono, as Chair of the Steering Committee of the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, stated that the rehabilitation and reconstruction process has been underway for 11 months.

"Indeed, we need to focus on some areas, but I think everything can be implemented well, as we hoped," Sugiono told reporters at the Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) Command Post on Monday (10/26/2026).

During this time, the government has issued various regulations and allocated budget support as part of efforts to address the impact of the disaster in the three provinces.

He stated that the recovery achievements are inseparable from the government's work in fulfilling its responsibility to provide services to the community in disaster-affected areas.

According to Sugiono, the restoration of public facilities continues to show progress. In the health sector, almost all health facilities have returned to normal, with six sub-health centers in North Sumatra still awaiting restoration.

Furthermore, the reconstruction of damaged schools and the provision of temporary and permanent housing for affected communities are still ongoing.

Sugiono requested that coordination between relevant parties be improved so that rehabilitation and reconstruction can proceed more quickly, especially in locations that still require further treatment.

He also emphasized the importance of incorporating disaster mitigation into development planning to anticipate future disaster risks, including those related to climate change.

He noted that Indonesia is a country prone to disasters, and therefore, preparedness needs to be strengthened so that disaster management and recovery can be implemented as quickly as possible when disasters occur.
