The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has revealed its handling of a case of alleged fraud or embezzlement involving the sale and purchase of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) locations in East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, resulting in losses reaching IDR 950 million.

BGN Vice Chief Sony Sonjaya stated that the case, handled by the East Lombok Sub-regional Police, was a follow-up to public complaints regarding the abuse of the Free Nutritional Meal (MBG) program verification process.

"The police handled this case after following up on information from the victims that appeared in the media. They were victims of individuals exploiting the MBG verification process," explained Sonny on Friday (5/29/2026).

He explained that the modus operandi in this case was similar to incidents in several other regions, with the perpetrators claiming to have a relationship with BGN officials and using photos as proof of their closeness.

Meanwhile, East Lombok Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent I Komang Sarjana, confirmed that his office had received a public report on February 16, 2026, and escalated the case to the investigation stage on May 21, 2026.

"On May 29, 2026, we will issue an investigation warrant," said the Police Chief. 

He stated that the suspect, identified as S, is being charged under Article 492 and/or Article 486 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

Komang explained that the perpetrator allegedly promised the location of the MBG kitchen and the construction of a facility that he claimed would be operational soon. 

However, the facility has not yet been operational even though the building is already complete.

Investigators have not yet detailed the number of victims or the exact location of the crime in this case. The estimated losses are IDR 950 million.
