inp.polri.go.id – The Riau Islands Regional Police destroyed 48,473.22 grams of cocaine found on the coast of the Anambas Islands. The termination of the drugs was carried out by boiling it in the water.
"From 43 packs of cocaine, the total weight of the drugs is 48,475.1. We have sent 220.1 of the drugs to the Riau Police Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) for examination. Then, they returned 218.22 gram of those to us, then the 48,473.22 grams of the cocaine is going to be destroyed," said the Deputy Chief of the Riau Islands Police, Brigadier General Rudi Pranoto in Batam, Thursday (21/07/22).
The cocaine was found by local fishermen in Tunjuk Beach, Landak Village, Jemaja District, in black bags. The fishermen then reported the 25 packs of cocaince that they found to the police officers.
"From there, we conduct further investigation around the coastal areas and found a total of 43 packs of cocaine-type narcotics from eigth places from 1st to 3rd July, 2022," said the One-Star General.
Police Brigadier General Rudi Pranoto explained that the discovery of 43 packs of cocaine was suspected from OPL (Out Port Limited) or international waters in the waters of Malaysia and Thailand which were carried by the westerly wind to the waters of the Anambas Islands.
“It can be seen based on the facts that a lot of garbage on the Jemaja Island Beach came from international waters. From there, it can be constructed that the transportation used by the international cocaine syndicate is a ship. They tied the narcotics under the hull of the ship. It might be due to extreme weather, some of the cocaine was stranded on the coast of the Anambas Islands region," concluded the Deputy Head of the Riau Islands Regional Police.
