Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Thousands of demonstrators converged in front of the United States Embassy in Jakarta on Sunday morning (5/4/2026) to hold a mass prayer for three Indonesian peacekeepers killed during their UNIFIL mission in Lebanon.
“This gathering, titled 'A Million Prayers for the Martyrs,' serves as a profound tribute to our finest soldiers who fell while guarding global peace", the organizer from the Islamic Organizations Council (MOI), said in a statement, as reported by antaranews.com.
The crowd, predominantly dressed in white, occupied Jalan Merdeka Selatan road and extended toward Monas square, carrying portraits of the posthumously promoted Major Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, First Sergeant M. Nur Ichwan, and Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon. Participants combined their mourning with calls for Palestinian independence, waving national flags alongside images of the fallen troops.
The peaceful rally featured orations and religious hymns, creating a somber yet resilient atmosphere in the heart of the capital. Authorities monitored the swelling numbers near Gambir Railway Station as citizens from various backgrounds joined to express solidarity with the families of the deceased, demanding international accountability for the escalating violence that claimed the lives of the Indonesian tactical personnel.
