Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Saudi authorities discovered three Indonesian citizens in a desert area near Jumum, Makkah, on 27 May 2025.
One, identified as SM, was found dead from suspected dehydration. The other two, identified J and S, were rescued and treated at a local hospital before being deported to Jeddah.
Consul General Yusron B. Ambary, said on Sunday (1/6/2025) that victim SM had earlier been caught attempting Hajj with a non-Hajj visa and deported. Undeterred, he, along with J and S, attempted to re-enter Makkah using an unregistered taxi via the desert.
Fearing arrest, the driver abandoned them in the middle of the desert. The Indonesias were later located by Saudi drone patrols. SM was already deceased when found.
His body remains in a Makkah hospital pending autopsy, with burial planned afterward. The Consulate is coordinating with SM’s family in Madura.
Indonesian Consulate in Jeddah urged Indonesians to avoid illegal Hajj attempts and follow Saudi laws.
