Inp.polri.go.id - Tanjung Selor. A speedboat accident in the Temangga River, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan, claimed three lives on Monday (10/2/2025).
The victims, identified as H. Minnong (80), Andi Inja (82), and Andi Ana (35), were part of a family returning from a wedding in Pulau Tias. Four others remain missing.
“We never expected this. The river was calm,” said Andi Jusniati, a relative of the victims, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause, but a survivor reported hearing a loud impact before the vessel capsized. The speedboat carried 30 passengers en route to Tanjung Selor.
Rescue teams, including the police and Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel, continue search and evacuation efforts. Several survivors received medical treatment at RSUD Soemarno Sosroatmodjo regional hospital, while others were sheltered by local authorities.
North Kalimantan Governor Zainal A. Paliwang and North Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspector General Hary Sudwijanto visited the site to oversee operations.
