inp.polri.go.id - North Kalimantan. Personnel from the North Kalimantan Regional Police conducted a Quick Response to forest and land fires at three different locations in Bulungan Regency on Thursday (8/20/2026).
The response began at 3:30 p.m., deploying 40 personnel led by Senior Superintendent Andreas Deddy Wijaya. Personnel extinguished, cooled, combed, and monitored the fires to prevent them from spreading and re-igniting.
The three locations being addressed were Tanjung Agung Village, East Tanjung Palas District, with a burned area of approximately 1 hectare; Apung Village, Tanjung Selor District, with an area of approximately 1.4 hectares; and the Apung Village Public Cemetery (TPU) area of approximately 1.7 hectares. The total affected area was approximately 4.1 hectares.
Personnel used fire trucks, fire pumps, fire hoses, nozzles, floating pumps, and other supporting equipment. At the second and third locations, personnel had to walk approximately 1 kilometer to reach the fires due to obstructed vehicle access due to undergrowth and difficult terrain.
Water was supplied from a community-owned water tank at the first location, a water tank at the second location, and a tributary water source using a floating pump at the third location. Personnel also coordinated with the community to conduct follow-up monitoring of the affected areas.
Through this rapid response, all fires were successfully extinguished and cooling operations were carried out to prevent re-ignition. The operation proceeded safely and conducively, with no casualties.
This response demonstrates police presence and preparedness in responding to public reports, preventing the spread of forest and land fires, and minimizing the impact of the fires on the environment and communities within the jurisdiction of the North Kalimantan Regional Police.
