inp.polri.go.id - Bali. The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Badung Regency, Bali, deported a Nigerian citizen identified as IO for overstaying her stay permit by 93 days.
The Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Badung Regency, Bali, stated on Thursday (8/21/2026) that IO did not renew her stay permit or leave Indonesia after her stay permit expired on May 15, 2026.
"IO did not renew or leave Indonesian territory, so she does not have a valid stay permit," he said.
According to immigration records, IO entered Indonesia via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, using a visitor visa on November 17, 2025.
During her stay in Bali, IO moved around several times, including in the Canggu area of Badung Regency.
The Lagos, Nigeria-born woman admitted she was unable to return to her country because she lacked the funds to purchase a flight ticket.
IO was then reported by a friend to the North Kuta Sector Police for overstaying her stay permit on August 13, 2026.
The police then handed IO over to the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office on August 16, 2026.
After undergoing questioning and awaiting funds to return home, IO was finally deported via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to Qatar and then to Lagos, Nigeria.
Ngurah Rai Immigration also proposed that IO be placed on a deportation list. The decision regarding deportation will be made by the Directorate General of Immigration.
"When the validity of the stay permit expires, the person concerned is required to immediately leave Indonesia or extend it in accordance with applicable regulations. Reasons such as insufficient funds do not waive this obligation," said Novyandri.
He said that Ngurah Rai Immigration will tighten supervision of foreign nationals by involving various sectors to ensure they comply with Indonesian immigration regulations.
