Inp.polri.go.id - Pontianak. The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) has foiled a drug smuggling attempt, seizing 6.3 kilograms of methamphetamine at the Indonesia-Malaysia border in Jagoi Babang, Bengkayang, West Kalimantan.

The operation was a result of close cooperation between the Army and local communities under the Radar Embrio Anti-Narcotics program, according to Sintang Military Command Head of Intelligence ColonelJohnson M Sitorus on Tuesday (30/7/2024)..

Initial tips from local residents led the Army to monitor suspicious activities. On 26 July 2024, around 1 am, a surveillance team spotted two individuals on a motorcycle. The suspects abandoned their package and fled when approached. The team later recovered the methamphetamine, which was contained in six packages.

The suspects returned to retrieve the discarded drugs but were apprehended by the team. A third suspect, connected to the smuggling ring, was also arrested. Brigadier General Luqman Arief praised the effective collaboration between the TNI and the community in combating drug trafficking at the border.
