inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Ahmad Sahroni, reminded that the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) must be loyal solely to the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
He made this statement in response to President Prabowo Subianto's speech at the Prastya Perwira (Praspa) Ceremony at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, which urged that no corps loyalty should override the interests of the nation.
According to Sahroni, the President's directive is crucial to ensure that all defense and security institutions remain under a single command for the benefit of the nation.
"We agree and align with the President's instruction that neither the military nor the police should have narrow corps loyalties," Sahroni said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (7/22/2026).
He emphasized that loyalty to the President is also key to preventing the emergence of sectoral egos and inter-institutional friction. According to him, the TNI and INP must submit to the President as commander-in-chief.
Therefore, he said, there should be no strategic movements or activities outside the President's command and instructions, especially those that contradict the President's vision and mission.
"Once again, we at Commission III, as direct partners of INP, urge all police members to set aside narrow corps loyalties and sectoral egos," said Sahroni.
Previously, President Prabowo reminded the 1,177 newly inaugurated young TNI and INP officers to maintain their integrity and refrain from abusing their positions, engaging in corruption, or engaging in drugs or gambling.
"Integrity is an officer's honor. Never abuse your position. Never be tempted by corruption or embezzlement. Never compromise with drugs, gambling, or other legal violations," Prabowo said.
The President emphasized that both institutions play a vital role in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty. He urged the officers to prioritize their interests above the nation's, to continue developing themselves in the face of growing threats, and to remain loyal to the Indonesian people.
