inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Amelia Anggraini, a member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), stated that the synergy between the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) in maintaining public security must be mutually reinforcing without usurping the authority of the other institution.
"Public security is not just a matter for a particular institution, but is the responsibility of the state as a whole," Amelia said in Jakarta on Thursday (8/13/2026).
She stated that security synergy between the TNI and INP must continue to be implemented properly and professionally in accordance with their respective authorities and based on statutory provisions.
The TNI has the duty and function of national defense, while INP has the primary mandate of maintaining public security and order.
According to Amelia, the TNI's efforts to assist with public security must and should have made the public feel protected, not afraid.
Therefore, she urged the TNI to ensure its security approach always focuses on community protection, law enforcement, officer professionalism, and respect for citizens' rights.
"Therefore, synergy between the TNI and INP is crucial, especially when situations require support and reinforcement in the field," she said.
Nevertheless, he appreciated the TNI Commander's commitment to help ensure security. This, he said, demonstrates that public security is a crucial part of the state's responsibility.
"Going forward, what needs to be strengthened is the TNI-INP coordination mechanism so that every form of assistance is clear, measurable, transparent, and effective," he said.
