The East Java Regional Police deployed a Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA) Team to conduct a crime scene investigation at the location of the Malioboro Express train accident involving several motorcycles at JPL No. 08, Mangge Village, West District, Magetan Regency, which killed four people.
Head of the Magetan Sub-regional Police Traffic Unit, Police Senior Inspector Ade Andini said that the TAA was involved in assisting the Magetan Sub-regional Police in conducting an investigation into the cause of the train accident involving the motorcycles.
"The TAA Team from the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate of the East Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate was involved in assisting us in uncovering the cause of the accident involving the Malioboro Express train with seven motorcycles. The team used sophisticated TAA method tools to reconstruct the incident in its entirety," said Ade in Magetan, Tuesday (5/20/2025).
He explained that the TAA method was used to determine the conditions before, during, and after the incident. After that, the results of the reconstruction will be visualized in the form of a three-dimensional video.
The analysis process is estimated to take about two to three weeks, or even longer, depending on the complexity of the situation on the ground.
Ade added that the police have not been able to draw a conclusion on the exact cause of the accident. The investigation is still ongoing, including the collection of additional evidence.
"CCTV footage is still in the collection and analysis process. The gate guard on duty at the time of the incident has also been secured and is being questioned," he said.
