inp.polri.go.id - Lampung. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the accident rate during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return flows decreased by 7.8 percent compared to 2025.
Sigit made this statement after monitoring the return flow at Bakauheni Port, Lampung, on Saturday afternoon (3/28/2026).
He said this decrease occurred amid a 20.49 percent increase in the number of travelers, reaching 2.9 million people, compared to 2025.
"Of course, I also thank the public and all police members who have been able to ensure this year's traffic accident rate, especially fatalities, is reduced," he told reporters.
Specifically, Sigit stated that the number of accidents resulting in fatalities also decreased by 112 cases, resulting in a total of 265 fatalities.
On that occasion, Sigit also urged the public to ensure the physical and vehicle conditions during the second return flow.
He reminded those tired from long journeys not to push themselves and to rest in the designated areas.
"Especially those still traveling long distances, please be extremely careful. Rest areas and buffer zones have been prepared by the government; please make good use of them," he said.
