Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho has called for comprehensive and collaborative accident prevention following a fatal bus crash at the Krapyak toll exit in Semarang, Central Java.
Speaking in Jakarta on Tuesday (23/12/2025), he said the incident occurred on Monday during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) travel period.
“Traffic safety is a shared responsibility that requires synergy between police, toll operators, transport companies, local administrations, and road users,” Chief Agus said, as cited by antaranews.com
The single-vehicle crash involved a passenger bus that reportedly lost control at high speed, struck a barrier, and overturned, killing 16 people and injuring 18 others. Chief Agus stressed that accidents are rarely caused by a single factor, but by a combination of human error, vehicle condition, road design, and environmental factors.
He urged drivers, especially long-distance and public transport operators, to avoid fatigue, comply with speed limits, and ensure vehicles are roadworthy. The Traffic will intensify patrols and electronic enforcement on high-risk toll sections during the year end period.
